Ahead of our player trial in Hull on 16th June, the Seahawks are pleased to announce that we are entering into an official affiliation with NIHL1 side, Blackburn Hawks.  The affiliation is at a business and sports level.  Already, the Hawks have assisted Hull with some of the business issues that a new side needs to address.  On a sports level, Hull GM Sport, Matty Davies, has been liaising with former Hull favourite, Dominic Osman, now coach of the Hawks to provide a clear two-way pathway for young players, to seize opportunities to play league hockey and work their way to the highest level in the UK – the GB international side.

Blackburn Hawks co-owner, Carl Everitt, commented, ‘We are proud to be working alongside and affiliated with the newest NIHL National Team, the Hull Seahawks.  We are confident this will provide opportunities for players of varying levels to develop within the sport.  We are also looking forward to working with Ian and Joe at the Seahawks on commercial opportunities, to share best practice so we can continue to improve and maximise our potential as organisations.’

This new partnership is one of many that the Blackburn Hawks will look to build with other clubs over the season and beyond, to enable Ice Hockey in general to be as healthy and appealing as possible.  Already there is a strong affiliation between the Hawks and Manchester Storm (EIHL).

‘We too are looking at further affiliations with NIHL2 and EIHL clubs,’ added Hull Commercial General Manager, Ian Mowforth.  In the businesses that Joe and I are involved in, collaboration builds better relationships and spreads the knowledge resource base.
