The 2022/23 season sees the return of a newly branded Yorkshire Cup featuring Hull Seahawks, Leeds Knights and Sheffield Steeldogs. All of the pre-season challenge games will form this cup competition, which has been officially approved by the EIHA. It promises to add spice to what are already eagerly anticipated fixtures.
Hull’s GM Commercial, Ian Mowforth, commented, ‘We have been working behind the scenes to make this happen and I am delighted that we have at last succeeded. It allows the clubs to add some silverware to the cabinet early in the campaign and I think that all three sides will ensure that this is a keenly contested competition. This has always been a trophy fought over by Sheffield and Hull but now we can add Leeds to the mix to make this a true White Rose contest.’
