We are delighted to announce the return to Hull for forward, Nathan Salem.
Nathan is a familiar face to Hull fans having played for the Pirates for two years between 2015-2017. Salem was also named captain in his second full season at the club which tells you the kind of impact he had when he joined. The English left shooting forward has had brief spells in his career at EIHL level for the Newcastle Vipers, Edinburgh Capitals and Coventry Blaze as he’s shown he is more than capable of holding his ground at that level. Since then, the forward has had spells at Sheffield Steeldogs and Peterborough Phantoms in his most recent years, making 219 appearances including his time in Hull scoring 126 goals and grabbing 144 assists along the way. Meaning the 30 year-old has 270 goal contributions in 219 games which is an impressive turnover.
New signing Nathan Salem had this to say about signing for the Seahawks, “I’m looking forward to the season with the Seahawks, obviously it’s their first year so it’s exciting to be a part of that. I heard Matty was putting a team together and so I knew it would be a good team if he was involved. I’ve played in Hull before and the fans are great when they’re behind you and so I’m looking forward to being on the right side of that again! I want us to show the rest of the league that we’re here to win games and be competitive. I want to help make the Seahawks successful by playing my part in winning games and giving us a chance to win some trophies. I’m a team player and I try to be the best role model to the younger players that I can be. See you all very soon!”
Head coach Matty Davies commented, “Signing Nathan is critical for us to compete this season. Finding top 6 Brits (1st and 2nd line players) is hard enough now adding 2 more teams to the mix and they just aren’t out there.
So bringing Nathan back to Hull was a priority for me to sign a team that can compete at a high level and I know he was very very keen on coming back to Hull to play in front of the fans here and to show himself to be a real top end forward in this league. I want him to be consistent this season and show he’s a leader in our room and really take his game to the next level and I wanna help him do that. It’s also nice to know he’s closer to his family, he has a young daughter and that’s important in playing well as your happier overall which helps everything. It’s a huge season for Nathan and I hope we can take this team to a really high level.”
Welcome to the Hull Seahawks, Nathan!
