We are pleased to welcome back defenceman, Tom Stubley.
23 year old Tom spent last season at Widnes Wild playing in NIHL 1 and had a brief stint with Leeds Knights. Tom is a product of Hull’s Junior Development programme and he has now played for three senior Hull teams being the Stingrays, Pirates and now Hull Seahawks. Similar to all of the Seahawks British signings so far, he has Elite League experience too.
‘Tom has a lot of experience for a player still so young. I know him well from my Pirates days and he will enjoy being back home. At 6’1’’ and 176lbs he is the right fit for my team. I don’t think it’s a secret now that I am signing a side with height and physical presence.’
Tom won the triple in 2018/19 while playing for Hull Pirates and added to his honours last season with the NHIL 1 Northern Cup and NIHL 1 North ‘Most Points by a Defenceman’ award getting 47 points (14 goals & 33 assists) in 38 games in the league and cup.
GM Sport, Matty Davies believes he has all of the pieces in place for a strong defensive unit. ‘Tom was one of the first lads I asked about coming back to Hull. He was a young lad when I played with him a few years ago but he’s had a few years of growing up and growing into his big frame. I think Tom can be a real top D man in this league, he has the ability to make plays and takes smart shots from the point. I really want him to be a force this season at both ends of the rink, he will be relied on a lot and log a lot of minutes but it’s nothing I don’t think he can handle. So happy to have Stubs back, great lad in the room and will show up every night.’
Welcome home, Tom.
